Crying with laughter, laughing through the tears. Jumpy at the Duke Of York's reviewed by #TicketTuesday winner Lucy Wood

Recent #TicketTuesday winner Lucy Wood went to see Jumpy at the Duke Of Yorks Theatre.   The bittersweet comedy stars Tamsin Greig, star of Green Wing, Love Soup and Episodes as a wife and mother trying to juggle a testing family life, opinionated friends and turning 50.   It is playing a limited run until the 3rd November.

The show also features Smack The Pony star Doon Mackichan, Bel Powley and Richard Lintern.  Here is Lucy's take on the show:

    "Jumpy is a fantastic show.

A very moving story of how a mother loves her rebellious teenage daughter so much and worries about her in a way a mother would.
It also shows the teenage daughter's side of things, as she watches her mother's marriage slowly fall apart & later get back together again.

Sad in parts where Tilly has gone off to university, & her mother Hilary is reflecting on past times & her saying goodbye at the train station, hilarious in others where Hilary's best friend Frances decides she wants to get into cabaret burlesque dancing at the age of 50, & while on a family holiday with Tilly's boyfriend's family decides to show off what she can do, and comes out in a very skimpy costume with nipple tassles and a whip dancing away, I had tears in my eyes from laughter, pure brilliance!

Tamsin Greig & Ben Lloyd Hughes were fantastic.  All in all a brilliant, fun show."

A hit with audiences and critics alike, the Telegraph claimed "Jumpy at the Duke of York's Theatre is the funniest new play the West End has seen in ages" whilst the Financial Times dubbed Tamsin Greig's performance "superb".
